Limoges Airport is continuing its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and taking steps towards an ecological transition.
Energy optimisation
The airport's operations on the ground are an important lever for reducing its carbon and noise emissions:
- Installation of a 400 Hertz, 28 volt power supply on two parking stands to connect aircraft on the ground, significantly reducing the consumption of non-road diesel (GNR),
Replacement of the airport vehicle fleet with electric vehicles: baggage trolleys, runway tractors.
Adaptation of infrastructure to reduce energy consumption:
- Gradual changeover over the last 4 years to LED lighting in all areas: lighting of the runway, terminal building, vehicle parking areas, aircraft parking areas, ancillary buildings,
- Installation of air destratifiers in the terminal building to improve thermal comfort for passengers and staff and to save on heating costs
- Environmental commitment
- Promotion of biodiversity on the 170 hectares of airport land, in particular through natural mowing in areas not regulated by aviation safety regulations,
- Regular analysis of rainwater and wastewater discharges from the airport into the natural environment.
Management of the reed filter purification plant (STEP) installed at the airport in 2015 to control the impact of the discharge of the airport's wastewater into the natural environment.
Other projects are currently underway to continue this commitment towards an energy transition.
