A 36 years' story...
Limoges International airport was opened in 1970 and has now carried more than 4 millions passengers.
Among the highlights of its story are :
- 1990 : creation of an articial runway, the only one in Europe at that time with the one in Genève-Cointrin
- 1994 : création of the Limoges Bellegarde Mixt Syndicate de l'Aéroport de Limoges-Bellegarde with partners such as Limoges Chambre of commerce avec, Haute-Vienne General Coucil and the city of Limoges.
- 1997 : building of a new control tower and new Civil Aviation offices.
- 2001 : The Regional coucil joint the Mixt Syndicate
- 2002 : first low-cost airlines' arrival (Buzz)
- 2003 : Ryanair's arrival
- 2005 : Flybe's arrival and opening of the new Terminal in June.
The SMALB (Limoges-Bellegarde Mixt Syndicate) is composed of:
· Limousin Regional Council
· Haute-Vienne General Council
· City of Limoges
· Chambre of commerce and industry of Limoges
The Smalb President is Célestin Thouzeau
